Slovak Contemporary Glass

1981, Bratislava 

Šimonyiová from the very beginning of her young career works in the way of trans- 

parent plate or optical glass. The main factor of her work is geometry. The diffe- 

rent layers stand against each other in opposition while the cross-banding remains 

empty. This creates tension between the matter and the empty. Although the object 

itself is just insinuated by the layers of glass and the silhouette is not compact, it 

is clearly defined thanks to strict geometry.
