Mjartan was influenced by the work of Zora Palova and like her; he is fond of intense colors. His shapes are plain, compact, and have a self-contained outline. Tension is achieved by combining full and perforated surfaces; matter is shaped into geometrical patterns and smooth and rough surfaces are set in contrast.
